The rather condescending way he dismisses Dr Gwilym as deputy chairman of the Principality Building Society, as if he were some provincial building society branch manager, belies his ignorance of the PBS which boasts 51 branches across Wales, more than 1,000 staff and over 500,000 members. Not only is Principality a major player in the Welsh economy it is also the 8th largest building society in the UK.
Paxman's attack on Dr Gwilim's figures echo that of Welsh Secretary Peter Hain.

Heh, I fair enjoyed that.
Smashing! I saw people Twittering about it last night but by then the programme was over.
Thanks Mark.
Magisterial! Thanks for sharing that
It's ridiculous that London is allowed to spread lies about Scotland and Wales being 'subsidy-junkies' without the facts to back it up.
London gets more spending than Scotland and Wales.
In addition, the fact we can't keep our own resources, create our own tax regimes and have to pay for England's expensive wars, means we're a lot poorer than we otherwise would be.
I have watched this clip about 5 times and each time it just gets more satisfying.
Absolutely brilliant. Well worth a few head-lines.
