Apart form a couple of annoying adverts these programmes are a fantastic reminder of Jimmy Reid and his insightful take on Scotland: Written by Jimmy Reid and Tom Nairn, Produced by Alastair Moffat and directed by Les Wilson. Oh I forgot title music by Jim Sutherland and other producer Seona Robertson and editor John McKenzie. Talk about a who's who of Scottish telly!

Thanks Mark. Excellent idea.
Mark
thanks for another thoughtful post, hadn't seen any of the Jimmy Reid programmes, will take a look. I liked Elaine C Smith's piece in the Sunday Herald. Had never heard of the Admirable Crichton either, is an educational place this.
Remember watching these at the time.
My pal's dad was a shop steward on the stewards committee at the yard when all that happened. He was also a communist at the time (they make the best shop stewards always, as they see the employer as an exploiter).
Now he has ended up voting SNP as well - he did it after Iraq (via postal vote as he is very frail now & couldn't go to the funeral), but like me & my pal it isn't an endorsement of the SNP per se, it is an endorsement of the SNP as a vehicle to an end.
Which for us, as for Reid, will be about getting a better government.
