News just in that Steven Purcell has resigned as a Councillor. STV have broken the story after a fraught week for Mr Purcell and the Labour Party.
Naturally there are now lots of questions to be asked, about his alleged use of cocaine and just who else was aware of his supposed use of the Class A drug in the City Council.

Mark do you mind if I pinch your headline?
Go ahead, Rosa, just discovered there's another side of this story that's due to break in the next few hours. It's going to be H U G E !
One has to wonder what decisions Mr Purcell made whilst partaking of pharmaceutical enhancers...and what pressures might have been put on him, by those aware of his dependency problems. The whole GARL farrago seemed to be rather mad, who lost out on contracts etcetera...
C'mon then, Monty. Spill the beans - whit's the crack?
The way it's going he'll be serving at MacDonalds by the end of next week.
Can't wait for the other side of the story...
One of my contacts has posted the following in quick succession:
1. Can't comment on Purcell's resignation due to the nature of a related story that could break within the next few hours. Huge story.

2. Shocked about the information that I've been given, trying to confirm, but due to nature of it I can't risk putting it out there.
The young man found dead outside the Glasgow City Council chambers a few hours ago is not related to the Purcell situation. There are no suspicious circumstances.

The young man above was allegedly an 18 year old Labour activist. Very sad.
Sad indeed.
What's it all abaat, Mark? How could the head of Glasgow City Council go from Hero to Zero so quickly without tons of people knowing about his, erm, habit?
Feeling a bit guilty about Mr Purcell standing down as a councillor, I should never have encouraged folk to moan about the their bins getting lifted late...(c) The Glasgow Effect!
Moontang and Math. I suspect we're going to have to wait until Sunday for the whole sordid mess to be splashed across a host of Sunday's finest...
