Smyth's official misdemeanour was for 'offensive conduct and refusing to respect the chair'.
Councillor Smyth and Councillor Ronnie Nicholson, the not so popular with their own members, odd couple, have allegedly a history of behaving in a rather intimidating manner towards councillors and council employees of the lady persuasion. So much so that one is tempted to think that Messrs Smyth and Nicholson might have been happier in an earlier age when women were expected to stay in, shut up and put out on demand.
One can only imagine what kind of thrill some chaps might get from trying to impress the ladies with their machismo ways.
Although the vote was put to the full council and Smyth actually had cross party support, not one lady member voted for him to remain in chamber.
Naturally when Smyth was given his marching orders...
Nicholson, a local low rent landlord and erstwhile leader of the Labour group flapped his arms, squawked about a bit and left in a hissy fit.
The remaining members of the Labour Party and the rent-a-mob glee club they invite to council meetings. Were nonplussed and did what comes naturally to such sorts.

I am in childcare sector and was at the meeting, and what you are describing bares no resemblance to the truth. The PVI sector and members of the public were shocked and horified by how and more importantly why Councillor Smyth was expelled from the chamber,it was a shameful lack of democracy.Councillor Smyth's only fault was to ask questions the Administration appeared not to want to answer. You are a coward and too scared to say who you are and you should be ashamed to support the actions of your political party;but I know you will be too cowardly to print this.
Paul says
"You are a coward and too scared to say who you are "
ROTFL.
My, the Labour types do provide mirth.
Next "Paul" will defend detention without trial, ID cards and New Labour's decision to continue imprisoning the children of asylum seekers at Dungavel.
Perhaps pathetic New Labour spin merchants like "Paul" should think that we are sick of this type of empty spin. Tell us of Iraq, Guantanamo, banning of free protest near Parliament, rendition, you empty posturing shill
Paul says "but I know you will be too cowardly to print this."
ROTFL.
This is not New Labour cooperating with rendition and evicting pensioners from their conference, "Paul"
Hi 'Paul', welcome to the blogosphere. perhaps you would like to detail exactly where I veer from the truth in my description?
I notice, 'Paul' you accuse me of cowardice, yet you don't appear to have a surname, profile or even gosh a recognisable operating system from your isp address.
"I am in Childcare sector." Are Disclosure Scotland aware of this?
Now pray do tell, Paul, here is your opportunity, and don't fret love, I will 'print' your response, what questions did the delightful General Secretary of the Labour Party in Scotland, Councillor Colin Smyth wish to ask, but the evil administration did not want to answer?
well i never wht about that then eh?

News of the World faces £800,000 payout in bullying case
A News of the World reporter who suffered from a culture of bullying led by former editor Andy Coulson, who is now David Cameron's head of communications, has been awarded almost £800,000 for unfair dismissal and disability discrimination.
The judgment singled out Coulson for making "bullying" remarks in an email to Driscoll after the first formal warning, letting him know that he thought he should have been sacked.
According to the tribunal, the bullying continued after Driscoll went on sick leave. Senior management at the paper sent Driscoll a barrage of emails, phone calls and visited his home to demand that he see a company doctor, despite Driscoll's GP advising him to "distance" himself from the source of his stress.

Nikos, whereas General Secretary of te Labour Party is widely regarded as being a bit of an unpleasant bully, I'm sure he is not nearly half as bad as former NOTW editor Andy Coulsen.
One can only wonder why Cameron brought in such an odious creature after the decade of Alistair 'Mad dog Tucker' Campbell at the Neu labour party.
