
A big welcome to Greenland, which today takes a big step towards replacing Montenegro as the worlds 'newest' country.
A referendum on Greenland's autonomy was held on 25 November 2008. It was passed with 75% approval.
Self-government gives the 60,000, mostly-Inuit residents of the world's largest island greater control over natural resources and justice, and paves the way toward full nation status within decades.

Mate you know what the Unionist will say - 'Greenland can never be fully independent because it has no water' - like Scotland has no oil wealth.
They have only one word for snow............snow.

60,000 people living on what is little more than a huge lump of ice, no army, no navy , no air force, no proper roads, no public transport yet they are gaining more independence than Scotland and whats more, its from a country of 5 million they are pulling away from, Hail Hail to Godthaab..
